COLLEONI

A church and a 20th-century former clerical complex are transformed into a NH Collection Hotel. After the strip-out and preliminary decontamination of hazardous substances (MMVF), we began with the church, carrying out preparatory cuts using diamond tools and targeted demolitions with structural reinforcements, including curved and circular steel elements, to create full-height openings without compromising the existing structure.

Next, we proceeded with engineered demolitions using heavy machinery for the bell tower, apse area, and controlled demolition of the floors, including the underlying void space, except for the central nave, which remained intact. Some facade elements were also removed, including the tympanum and openings on the side aisles of the inner arches. The heavy machinery demolitions extended to the buildings of the former convent on Via Colleoni and the adjacent former school, located next to the church.

The architectural design for this project was carried out by AAAA Quattro associati studio.
