MARCO DE MARCHI 3

Strip-out and demolition intervention prior to the renovation of a prestigious historic residential building in Milan

MARCO DE MARCHI 3

On via Marco de Marchi in Milan, a strip out and demolition intervention was carried out in preparation for the renovation of a true hidden architectural gem of the city: a historic residential building from the 1930s, consisting of seven above-ground floors and two basements.

The operations included the clearance of apartments and manual demolition of screeds, partitions, and terraces. Special attention was given to the preservation of original marble on the staircases and floors of common areas.

Original high-value furnishings, including statues, fireplaces, mirrors, handles, window frames, shelves, as well as the fixtures from one bathroom, were carefully removed and stored for future reinstallation.

In the basement, used as cellars and technical rooms, a 400 m² MCA remediation was carried out using static and dynamic containment.

The management of demolition debris, in the confined spaces, required careful planning for proper disposal, optimizing logistics and safety due to the limited space.

In total, the intervention involved approximately 3,500 m² of demolition, aiming to preserve the historic value of the building while adapting it to modern requirements.
