VAULTS OF THE FORMER CARIGE BANK
In the heart of Como’s historic city center, in Piazza Duomo, we carried out a highly complex technical intervention inside a listed building, currently undergoing a redevelopment that will result in the creation of a luxury boutique on the ground floor and a complete restoration of the premises on the upper floors.
The works were focused on the building’s two former bank vaults: in Vault 2, we performed the demolition of the armored walls, a particularly delicate operation conducted while leaving completely intact the original reinforced concrete pillars that support the overlying structure.
In both vaults, the armored doors were removed; in Vault 2, additional work included the removal of screeds and the complete demolition of the covering slab, while in Vault 1, a 10 cm layer of armored reinforcement was removed.
All activities were carried out using Brokk 200 robots, to ensure operational precision and minimal impact on the context. Particular attention was devoted to the protection of historical elements, with the original floors shielded using OSB panels.
A delicate and highly responsible intervention, completed with efficiency, safety, and the utmost respect for the architectural and monumental value of the building.
