PALIZZI 91
Torre Palizzi, an interesting redevelopment project in the Musocco district, will see the realization of a new commercial and residential hub with 19 above-ground floors. The area was once populated by offices.
To kick off this project, reclamation (of MCA and FAV category 2), strip-out, and demolition were necessary, carried out with heavy equipment, equipped with a clamp and hammer, targeting the structure composed of reinforced concrete, brick, and steel.
The most complex part of these interventions concerned the North side of the building, whose facade, over 15 meters high, faced the street. This was a delicate point for demolition work, considering not only the daily pedestrian traffic but also the tram with its tension cables tied to the poles. To prevent debris from reaching the street and ensure the safety of pedestrians and the road itself, we used a demolition cloth, supported by a mobile crane and positioned beyond the projecting facade. This way, as the excavator demolished the facade with the clamp, debris was directed onto the demolition cloth, protecting the passageway.
Another important theme was the management of numerous materials inside the building; many of them were not compatible with the rest of the debris generated from the demolition. Therefore, during the strip-out, we removed and disposed of everything non-inert before the excavator's intervention, such as: raised flooring, elevator, systems, plastic, old lights, lamps, movable walls, doors, plastic floor, drywall, fire-resistant doors, radiators, and curtains.
