MALPENSA TERMINAL 2

Cutting and controlled demolition operations in Malpensa Airport Terminal 2

MALPENSA TERMINAL 2

The Milan Malpensa International Airport is the largest in Lombardy and the second busiest in Italy. At Terminal 2, we carried out cutting and controlled demolition operations to allow structural modifications without interfering with the flow of airport activities. The intervention was designed to minimize the impact of noise, dust, and disturbances, especially during nighttime hours, ensuring the safety of travelers, ground staff, and users present in the terminal.

Initially, the elevated flooring was cut using a diamond blade, a solution that ensured millimeter precision and minimized vibrations and impacts on surrounding structures in a high-intensity operational environment like an airport. The demolition was then carried out using the Brokk 110 robot, a technical choice that allowed safe and efficient work even in the most complex and overhanging areas.

Each phase of the project was managed with attention to timing and airport regulations, ensuring that the work did not compromise daily operations and complied with the site's requirements.
