In Sesto Calende, in the province of Varese, a complete demolition of an industrial reinforced-concrete warehouse with prefabricated polystyrene slab floors was carried out.

The works began with the controlled demolition of the above-ground structure, proceeding in progressive phases until the complete removal of the building, generating approximately 450 m³ of demolished material over a five-week period.

During the disposal phase, a critical issue related to the presence of predalles slabs made of polystyrene and reinforced concrete was addressed.To ensure the proper recovery of the materials, a density-based separation system was adopted using a water-filled container, which made it possible to separate the polystyrene (the lighter material) from the reinforced concrete.
